The new Police Scotland HQ designed by Cooper Cromar has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2016 Scottish Property Awards – Development of the Year (Public Buildings) and Architectural Excellence (Public Buildings).
Located on a brownfield site in the east end of Glasgow, Riverside East is one of the largest and most ambitious urban renewal projects undertaken in Europe this year.
The development was conceived as a catalyst for the regeneration of the area, which is recognised as a key gateway within the City. The site has been enhanced by new contemporary public realm interventions and underpinned by social and economic regeneration which ensures community support.
As a testament to the vision and success by Clyde Gateway in developing the building it was pre-let early in the delivery process to Police Scotland. The building has become their West of Scotland headquarter office and administrative centre, occupied by 1,100 police officers and civilian staff.
Designed to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards, the building design also responds to the Force’s operational and security requirements, whilst being open and welcoming to the community.
