Work starts on new residential development in Edinburgh

Construction has begun on a new Cooper Cromar project in Edinburgh. Niddrie House Park is a residential development of 28 new homes providing a range of flats, semi-detached and terraced houses of varying sizes including two dedicated wheelchair homes on a brownfield site at Greendykes in Edinburgh.

Situated on the site of the former Greendykes Primary School, the development has been designed to extend the current access at Niddrie House Park into the development providing a number of connecting courtyards within the shared surface street. The housing is positioned to provide active streetscapes reflective of the local scale within the wider area, but also to provide maximum solar gain to individual units with a southern aspect wherever possible. The feeling of quality public space has been carefully considered with strategic planting and no provision of gates and fences to front gardens to add to a sense of quality and increased open space.

Local community participation was encouraged throughout the course of the project.
