Following on from the success of CONNECT110NS, Eastwood High School and The Lasswade Centre, Cooper Cromar have been appointed by BAM Properties and Taylor Clark to design a £62m Grade ‘A’, 300,000ft2 sustainable mixed-use development at Atlantic Square, in the heart of Glasgow’s International Financial Services District (IFSD).
The development, linked at ground level by a new high quality public realm space, will comprise two commercial buildings of ten storeys (180,000ft2) and seven storeys (80,000ft2) respectively, with ground floor retail space.
A third building a six storey commercial and residential gateway building on the corner of Argyle Street and York Street will visually and physically connect the development site to the city fabric to the north. This building sets the visual tone aesthetically for the commercial buildings and new urban space at the heart of the site.
The gateway building leads into the heart of the development site where two further commercial office buildings of ascending scale are linked north/ south and east/ west by the new high quality urban realm.
The development will also retain the grade ‘A’ façade of the listed warehouse buildings on James Watt Street, to further link to the site’s historic trading heritage to the River Clyde waterfront.
