The comprehensive refurbishment and extension of this prominent 10 storey 1960’s City Centre office block has transformed Buchanan House into a modern, high-tech landmark offering 245,000ft² of prime office space.

The works comprised a complete strip-out back to the existing concrete frame, erection of a complete new story on the rear wing, removal and renewal of the existing envelope, replacement of all M&E Services together with public realm, parking and landscaping to the perimeter of the site.

The brief was made all the more challenging by the requirement to maintain operation of the primary Network Rail Control Centre through the construction period.

Buchanan House was successfully completed on programme late in 2004 and is now fully occupied with tenants including Network Rail, Glasgow Caledonian University and the Scottish Government.
