Conceived with Friends of the Beatson Charity to compliment state-of-the-art treatment facilities in the new West of Scotland Cancer Centre, this purpose designed relaxation centre offers patients an environment in complete contrast to a normal hospital.
The concept was to create a retreat space that would reconnect patients with the outside world and bring back a feeling of normality. Designed in the style of an upmarket club the centre occupies a prime location on the 4th floor of the new hospital with superb panoramic views over Glasgow.
Facilities include a library, cinema, massage suite and hair salon together with two comfortable lounges that take full advantage of the views.
An integrated music system, envirosphere and internet facilities provide patients with an opportunity to escape the intensity of their stay in hospital at least for a short time.
Since it was opened in September 2007 the feedback has been very positive from both patients and staff alike with regards to the contribution this facility is making to the entire hospital.
