The third Care Home designed by Cooper Cromar for the charity Erskine, the new 48 bed Murray Home, replaces a redundant Grade ‘B’ listed building which failed to meet required Care Commission standards.
Located immediately adjacent to the current Erskine Edinburgh Home, the new two storey facility reinforces the idea of a ‘care campus’ which is set within tranquil landscaped surroundings and mature trees.
The ground floor bedrooms have been designed to accommodate dedicated dementia patients as required, while all bedrooms possess spacious en-suite facilities. All areas exceed the minimum standards and provide full wheelchair accessibility.
An integral activity space, with a dedicated private garden, provides a full range of activities for some or all of the residents.
The building was procured on a Design and Build basis once Cooper Cromar had completed the concept design and achieved a detailed planning consent.
